11. Sex workers need to be respected and valued by society
The elimination of discrimination is a basic requirement for improving the living conditions of all sex workers. The stigmas and prejudices surrounding sex work must therefore be reflected upon and eliminated. Society as a whole should recognize that the provision of sexual services is a labour. Devaluation and paternalism harm sex workers. Society is called upon to see them as responsible individuals, to be open to their lives and show solidarity.
This demand also applies to the health sector. Medical staff should be better informed about sex work and give patients the feeling that they can talk about their work without being judged or discriminated against.
